05-27-20 | Songs for Listening: Big Ears for Fri, Mar. 27 - List #1 | Ashley Capps
As many of you know, I came aboard as managing director of the Big Ears Festival in mid-January and we were forced to cancel the festival roughly 2 weeks ago due to COVID-19.
Festival founder / executive director Ashley Capps has made a pair of the playlists for each day of the festival, which we'll put out in a staggered fashion over the weekend
Here's Ashley's note on the second list for Friday, March 27:
”Good morning! Today would have been Day 2 of Big Ears 2020.
We’re marking the occasion with several playlists that chart imaginary paths through today’s festival offerings.
Our first playlist, taking us through some of Friday afternoon’s scheduled programming, opens with Danish composer / performer Astrid Sonne's 'Strong, Calm, Slow' (a good theme for these times) then features performances by Spektral Quartet, Aurora Nealand & Royal Roses, Jeff Parker, Nadah El Shazly, Fennesz, Josephine Foster, Anja Lechner, and Myra Melford's Snowy Egret. We’ll pause to refresh then, but be on the lookout as we venture into the evening’s offerings with additional playlists coming later today.”
