Dan is originally from New England and is currently based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Starting out out as the founding director of Non-Event, a non-profit experimental music and sound art series, Hirsch eventually oversaw public programming for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, CRASHarts (now Global Arts Live), ArtsEmerson: The World on Stage, the Eli and Edythe Broad Museum at MSU, and 3S Artspace. His work in music, film & performing arts has also included collaborations w/ the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis, the Goethe-Institut Boston, the List Visual Arts Center at MIT, and Duke Performances at Duke University, where he also hosts the weekly radio show, 'Buried in the Mix', on WXDU.
