Timothy Duffy, renowned photographer and founder of the internationally recognized arts nonprofit Music Maker Relief Foundation picked tunes for Thursday, September 5 at Songs for Listening.
Tim has been recording and photographing traditional artists in the American South since the age of 16, when he became interested in ethnomusicology. After earning a BA from Friends World College and MA from the Curriculum in Folklore at the UNC, Tim and his wife Denise founded Music Maker Relief Foundation in 1994 to directly assist and promote traditional musicians in need. In recent years, his photography has garnered national acclaim from the NY Times, NPR, and the Washington Post and was on view in a solo exhibition, Blue Muse, at the New Orleans Museum of Art earlier this year.
